The tunnelling team in Russia faced unique challenges, including complex ground conditions in a highly seismic region for a drive length over 1.5 km whilst encountering one of the steepest declination descents in pipe jacking.
Surmounting all these challenges, as well as adhering to highly exacting international Oil and Gas Industry Standards, is a great example of the “TEAMS WORK” spirit and ethos.
These were just some of the reasons that convinced the panel of international judges that the Züblin / STRABAG South Stream Project “obviously” merited the Award for Tunnelling Project of the Year (up to $150 m)”.
This is the second Award received, following success in 2011 for the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant Project in Australia.
